We started our session with a game of Twister to explore body expression.
The children were split into groups of 2 or 4 and given 4 hoops of different colours. Each child was given a verbal instruction to place a part of their body inside a coloured hoop.
Example : “Put your right hand inside the yellow hoop”. The object of the exercise was to follow each instruction correctly without losing their balance.
The second activity was Yoga: The children were given 6 simple yoga poses to copy, which were: The Dog, The Cat, The Tortoise, The Half Moon, The Book & The Butterfly.
By practicing Yoga poses, children can derive enormous benefits both mentally and physically. It enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination and body awareness. In addition their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves.
