Students in Cristina´s class have been studying and experiencing the fundamental concepts of air. Through a series of hands on experiments and presentations, the children learn how air behaves according to its temperature. After recognizing the high and low pressure zones on the earth, they are able to identify global winds and understand their origins and the causes of their directions. They learned about how variability in the heating of land and water also changes wind direction. Seasonal wind patterns affect rainfall and warm and cold ocean currents. Command cards, work charts, and maps in English help the students to conduct experiments that lead them to understand how warm and cold currents function. All of these concepts result from the work of air here on our earth.
