Students in fourth grade observed some essential conditions for plant life as they documented daily changes in four plants. We took away water, light, or air from three of the plants. One plant was allowed to have all three essential elements. We observed, drew, measured, discussed, made predictions, and wrote about the changes in the plants for three weeks. This biology experiment is the perfect way to learn to write short, descriptive paragraphs and to learn botanical vocabulary.
