By integrating nature and recyclable materials into art and crafts, students learn the importance of taking care of the environment and sustainability. The use of nature and recyclable materials enhances the creativity of children because they must use their imagination to create a new use of the material.
During this activity, we talked about the importance of recycling and the different ways to use recycled paper. The children used different tools to mix and drain the water out of the paper, then they decided to add dried flowers to see the effect on the paper.
After four days, the paper was dried, and the children were able to use it to write beautiful letters to their families or friends. Some conclusions were made by the children, first, they decided that the flowers do not look good on paper, so for their next lot, they will certainly avoid the flowers. Secondly, next time, they would like to use a rolling pin to flatten the paper more in order to get a better texture. They really want to continue exploring this technique and get better at it.
