The one task the children look forward to most during the morning activities is making and baking bread. They just love getting dressed up in their aprons and baking hat, but first we have to wash our hands!
Using the ingredients, which have already been measured out on a tray in separate recipients, the little bakers work in pairs to place the ingredients, one by one, into a large mixing bowl and mix with their wooden spoons.
Once the dough has come together into a big ball, the children can tip it out onto the tabletop and use their hands to shape the dough into their own adorable creations. They place their bread buns on a baking tray and carefully carry the tray towards the oven and the teacher will put them in for baking. As you can imagine, in no time at all, the classroom is filled with the heavenly scent of warm, baking bread, making us all hungry!
These fresh bread buns are always offered to the class as part of their afternoon snack. Delicious, and made with love in class!
