The students practice their reading, writing, and researching skills in English with History Question Cards.
The children begin by reading some premade cards about the Paleolithic people. They read and organize information about the culture. The students learn general information about the style of government, family life, cultural events, and the types of environment the Paleolithic people lived in, and they organize this information onto four comprehensive charts.
The students then make their own set of cards about another society of people. Joan´s class chose to research the Aboriginal Australians. By making their own cards, the students were able to compare how each society met its fundamental needs. When this long, hard work was finished, the students enjoyed presenting their Aboriginal Australian cards to their classmates.
