We are aware that children´s ability to learn between the age of 0 and 3 years is boundless and amongst these capabilities is the facility to learn new languages.
We mainly speak Catalan, Spanish and English in classroom. The children constantly listen to English during their normal school day whilst they eat, sleep, play, work, sing,…
And one of their favourite activities is to read a story all together in a circle with the teacher. They mostly enjoy this relaxed activity just after their afternoon nap. A good way to encourage the children to repeat and interact with us is to retell the story quite some times so they are familiar with it.
Or another good way is to read books with a wide range of vocabulary where they observe images and repeat the names after us. Often we sing songs representing these words, movements, animals etc… which also helps them in their learning.
They enjoyed so much with that kind of activity. They repeat, speak, learn and use some expressions in english. In many diferent ways, during the day, they listen and learn the English language enjoying themselves along the way.
