This time students are divided into four groups and each of them must get a message across to a person, without using any words. In order to do this, the assistant says an action into a student´s ear, who must then use nothing but gestures and mime to make him/herself understood. The other students must interpret the action, which could be something like: ride a horse, swim, sing a song, drive a car, read a book.
Mime is an important tool for the kids because it teaches them to use the body to communicate an idea. Facial expression and body language are probably the most important things children need to learn to use in order to express every emotion and action that is taking place.
This activity takes away speech. This strengthens the kids acting skills, and helps to make them more convincing when speech is included, as they can match their movement and expression with sound.
