When we talk about the “nest” class, we include children from four to eighteen months old, so not all the children are on the same developmental stage. In the Montessori Method, it is really important to respect the children’s progress through autonomy and independency. For this reason, in Montessori-Palau, we prepare the environment to allow all the children to learn, acquire and achieve their developmental milestones for their age. If we pay special attention to the gross motor development, it is achieved by different exercises such as practicing the crawling and hanging on the monkey bars, as well as the falling reflex, some sensorial circuits or the coordinated dragging exercise. However, we need to take into account that this development milestones are acquired by the natural process of curiosity and the intrinsic desire to move and discover of the infants.
