During this week we have been exploring the vocabulary associated with the objects the children have found on the beach and brought into the class.
We started this activity with the book “To Catch A Star” in which a little boy tries to find ways to catch a star from the sky and eventually finds a washed up star fish on the beach.
We discussed other objects that we could find on the beach and the children were asked to bring in items from the beach so we could create our own class beach.
Using vocabulary cards, the children were asked to match the card to the object by reading the word and placing the card next to the object.
We played a memory game, removing an item from the beach or changing the position of objects and asking the children to spot the change.
Stones – this activity involved the children building their own stone towers finding flat stones from big to small.
